Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Alison is fully qualified to post graduate level in high intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a well-recognised and scientifically researched psychotherapeutic treatment for several psychological and emotional difficulties. As its title suggests, it works by targeting the way you think (cognitions), the way you relate to your thoughts, and the way you behave, which in turn affects your mood, physiology, and your brain activity. A number of ‘3rd wave’ CBT therapies are now proven to be very effective including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness, these techniques may also be included in the treatment of your difficulty.

Get your life back on track

CBT is a more focussed form of therapy than counselling and is generally shorter term. During the assessment phase we will develop a thorough understanding of your difficulty, how it began, its progress and what maintains it. You will then be given a written summary report which will clearly state the goals you are aiming for in therapy with a date by which you will aim to achieve these. Once this is all in place, we will begin the work of making manageable changes so that you can get your life back on track; a better, healthier track than ever before.
